20 ways how to F—k up an economy!

By our Local NT Government. (witnessed and written about by me, a lowly peasant, oops I mean citizen, but I don't want to steal their limelight, they did all the work... proudly.)

Don’t get me wrong, continuously I’ve discussed economic factors and events with several sitting politicians and pundits from both sides of the isle. To say Holes and Homes is their main concern would be an understatement, but forgiving the lack of economic and financial intelligence by both the local bureaucracy and the half-wits presented for us to vote on what we have seen is that they can’t even get the Mining and Housing sector right, so we didn’t stand much of a chance for anything else.

For those blaming either side for the problems, I say, they have both been as bad as each other, but given that we currently have a government with a massive, albeit, unstoppable majority of 18 members and an opposition of 2, this current government could really make some changes to fix things, but lets reflect first on both sides F-ups.

I’m releasing one of these one at a time, then I’ll provide 20 ways they might make some positive changes, so in the new year we might be able to re-invigorate our currently sitting government to get back to work and maybe represent the people again, as most who know me can attest, I have a critical mind, with a positive outlook.

So here's Number 13.Lets build a wedding Cake!

Every Territorian knows what a blatant waste of tax-payers money went into creating our local parliament house. It’s the gift that just keeps on taking. Not only did it blow out the Territory budget by Billions, not just millions, it was a massive F..k you to local and Australian contractors.

The silver lining was that it saved a foreign company facing bankruptcy all over Europe and suffering from massive disgruntled employee terrorism. It also showed off the ignorance and corruption available to the world and let the world know our politicians were “Open for Business”.

I internally vomited as I witnessed our local representatives getting wined and dined (at the tax-payers expense) at our internationally owned Casino, as Asian business representatives openly discussed corruption, kick backs and plans. Plans on Gas, water, agriculture and most importantly at the time, mining.

As I read the Newspaper I could observe the conversations I heard, transfer into jobs, new cars, units and shares for family members of local politicians, as our local economy was being strip mined by stealth.

Developers chased out of Darwin in the 1980s with their tail between their legs, came back, now with financial backing and influence of newly elected parties that had an open-door policy and loved the tuckshop bags that came with it.

It was openly discussed the deals and corruption occurring at the time, and the judiciary as corrupt as they were at the time, had little or no will to confront it and the News media needed to suckle on teet of the local and federal government (not to mention corporate interests) to survive.

“The Wedding Cake”, “the White House”, or as the locals called it the new “Asylum” was one of the reasons the CLP got spanked and the ALP got it’s first foot hold in the NT. Many Territorians, having faced high unemployment rates of the 90’s, massive rental vacancy rates up to 20% in the late 90’s due to Federal liberal government deployments, saw the flashing neon signs of corporate greed and jumped on the bandwagon.

The current ALP and CLP both know that after the Bechtel and Ichthys projects that our now much younger population is looking for the next big thing, great opportunity, flashing lights or shiny coin.

So if they want to survive through the next election they need to leave a mark. The CLP gave us a “big white Elephant” to drive past and relive our political frustration. The ALP wants to give us a big Museum, oh joy! (and now want to invest in a private entities building...😂)

I wish most of the comedians weren't mainly leftards or PC apologists, there is some great material in Darwin at the Moment!

“I wonder if those who won by under 10% last election have started job searching yet?, or if they are going to wait until 6 months before the next change of government?
