A conversation on Lies

When asked by a learned older friend who hates politics, but is heavily invested in the Territory, “Why can’t people see what these stupid decisions are doing?” I was forced to reply, “It’s sad, but in my opinion true, that when we’ve been lied to long enough, we tend to reject any evidence that we’ve been lied to. The lie has us. Then it becomes too painful for us to acknowledge, especially to ourselves, that we’ve been conned by lies. So once you give a Liar power over you, you almost never get it back, not without tremendous pain.” He asked me, what makes you so wise? I thought about it and replied, “I’ve been lied to a lot.” Followed by “but, I keep smiling👍”
