Zero Limits – The Secret Hawaiian System to Health, Wealth, Peace and more
by Joe Vitale and Ihaleakala Hew Len, Phd
Great book to get if you ever went or go to a Tony Robbins event, Joe is one of Tony’s mates and he shows you some stuff on stage that is bloody amazing.
This book teaches a big idea, that everything that bothers you starts inside you, not outside. That doesn’t mean bad things are your fault. It means you have the power to clean how you feel and think about them.
The book says our minds are full of old memories, like recordings that play again and again. And we try to repeat these patterns. Some of these memories hold pain, fear, or anger. When they keep playing, they cause problems in our lives and even in our bodies.
There is a special calm place called the Zero State. This is when your mind is clean and quiet, like a blank whiteboard. When your mind is clear, you can feel peaceful and make better choices.
To clean the mind, the book teaches a simple Hawaiian practice called Ho‘oponopono.
It uses four easy sentences-
I love you
I’m sorry
Please forgive me
Thank you
If you ever did the psychology part of a Security course with me, you would know just how powerful this is.
Saying these words helps you let go of bad feelings inside you. You don’t need to understand the problem fully. You just clean yourself, and things begin to change.
The book also says you always have a choice. You can choose to clean your thoughts, or you can let old memories control you. Cleaning helps you feel calmer, kinder, and more guided.
There are three stages people go through -
Feeling like a victim – thinking everything is happening to you.
Feeling in control – trying to fix everything yourself.
Learning to let go – trusting love, doing your best, and staying calm.
The main message is simple, that when you take care of your inside world, your outside world gets better too. Peace starts with you!
Great Message in my opinion.
Anecdotally, sharing Ho‘oponopono with several men I secured in mental health facilities in 2017 to 2020 led them to find clarity and completely reversing their circumstances. They have all maintained their own mental health since and contribute to society. Having now read the background and history of the teachings, I feel a little ashamed that I didn't share it with far more people, especially given their desperate situations. The beauty of this book is that it helped me forgive myself for the regret.
From the Author -
I have given myself a goal of reading 50 books on business and self-improvement this year or about 1 a week for 2026. I am going back through my library and picking a book at random. Most of my friends don't read so these summaries are a twofer, they will summarise the book based on simple notes I take while reading, and then my readers, mates and colleagues can decide whether or not to buy it or download it on their kindle.
I am not going to give the books a score, nor say which books to avoid, I've read books that I love that everyone said was crap, so I am going to stick to my summary, and try to keep my opinion and Bias subtle. Some of the books will be by audio, some in paper, If I start reading one and can't get into it, after 2 chapters, I'm gone, I'll pick up another.
